Pakistan's jailed former prime minister Imran Khan has sought high treason proceedings against officials who allegedly stole his party's mandate in the February general elections and allowed the rival PML-N and the PPP to form a coalition government.
Former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi have been indicted on charges of receiving land as a bribe during his premiership. Khan, who is currently in jail, has previously denied the allegations. The indictment is related to Al-Qadir Trust, set up by Khan and Bibi in 2018.
The case is about allegations that Khan failed to deposit £190 million (about Rs60 billion) given by the British government. He instead allowed a property Tycoon to use it to partially adjust the said amount against the Rs 460 billion fine imposed on him by the Supreme Court. There are further allegations that the tycoon provided more than 56 acres of land to set up Al-Qadir University, which was established under the Al-Qadir Trust. Both Khan and Bibi are trustees.
A group of military commandos in Pakistan successfully rescued five children who were stranded in a cable car hanging hundreds of meters above the ground. The cable car malfunctioned, leaving seven students and one teacher suspended in a perilous position. The rescue operation, which is considered extremely dangerous due to adverse weather conditions, is still ongoing to rescue the remaining occupants. Efforts are being made by the Pakistan army to secure the stranded individuals, with military helicopters being used in the rescue mission.
